well, what works, works. you probably won't have a problem sending

for stuff on channel zero, although it does violate the postel rule ("be
liberal in what you accept, conservative in what you send").

in general, bxxp presents a 8bit clean datapath to the application. while
each profile can say what kind of data it expects, unless there's a specific
need to downgrade to other datapaths, it's probably best to avoid it.
