[BEEPbuilders] experienced programmer, but new to network work - where do I start with BEEP?

I hope these questions are not TOO basic for this list

I've ordered the BEEP book, and I've been reading this group's archives, but
I don't see a beginner's guide (other than the IBM DW material).

Am I right in thinking a lot of BEEP work is proprietary (so there's not so
much example code to look at, at the kinds of problems it can be applied
to).

Are there alternatives to BEEP I should be exploring?

The requirements start with, basically, 2-way intermittent small-file FTP
but "may be revised" ( I think you all know what that means).

So I probably should use BEEP (prepare for future changes) instead of the
more common "ftp class" things I've seen in Java and C#.

And the final question, are there code examples of calling the beepcore C
library from C# (seeing as the projects and products that point to C#
material appear to be dead links).

Thanks for your time,

Regards
Sanjeev Sharma
